Profile of an Accountant

Are you a closet sleuth? Do you enjoy poring over details with a magnifying glass looking for clues? Perhaps, like Sherlock Holmes, you sense that something is not right with the numbers you see before you and you are determined to get to the bottom of it all? Certainly the Accountant is one who:


A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business with major focus on accounting.

If, however, you wish to be elevated into the professional fold, you must then sign up for courses that would gain you membership as Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or Chartered Public Accountants (CPA) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants ( ACCA) after you have gained some work experience upon graduating.

In Malaysia, you have to be registered with the MIA (Malaysian Institute of Accountants) before you can practise as an accountant. The MIA is a statutory body which regulates and develops the accountancy profession in the county.
